Puoti & Sumppila's Giant Karelian Pie Challenge

Puoti & Sumppila is a bakery cafe and local food shop in Ilomantsi, in Finland's far east near the Russian border, and its challenge is a giant version of the Karelian pie. The rye crust is filled with rice porridge and served with a mountain of egg butter made from 800g of butter and 17 eggs. It's a team challenge for two.

What you win

Pairs who finish get T-shirts and a place on the wall of fame. Beat the record time, currently under 20 minutes, and the €70 pie is free.

Before you go

The pie is baked to order, so book ahead. You can split the egg butter between you however you like, but all of it has to go. Open weekdays and Saturday mornings.
