Privacy and cookie policy

foodchallenge.co.uk is run by James, an individual based in the UK. This page explains what information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. We keep it to the minimum: there are no accounts, no adverts and no tracking unless you say yes.

Who to contact

For any privacy question or request, email hello@foodchallenge.co.uk. James is the data controller for the information described here.

Google Analytics (only if you accept)

With your permission we use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages and challenges people look at, roughly where visitors are in the world, and what device and browser they use. It helps us decide which challenges to add and keep up to date. It doesn't tell us who you are.

Google Analytics is not loaded at all until you click Accept on the cookie banner. If you click Reject, or ignore the banner, nothing is sent to Google. You can change your mind any time using Cookie settings at the bottom of every page; withdrawing removes the Analytics cookies from your browser.

Google processes this data for us as a service provider and may process it outside the UK under Google's own safeguards. Analytics data is kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically. You can read more in Google's privacy policy.

The consent setting is strictly necessary to respect your choice, so it doesn't need consent itself.

Submitting a challenge, video or photo

The Submit a challenge form asks for your name, email address and details of the challenge (venue, town, description and an optional link). The video and photo pop-ups on challenge pages only send the link you paste and which challenge it's for.

We use these details to check the challenge, add or update it on the site, and contact you if we have a question about it. We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the directory accurate, and you choose to send them. Your name and email are never shown on the site, sold or used for marketing.

Submissions are delivered to our inbox by Web3Forms, which processes them only to send us the email. We keep submission emails only as long as we need them to deal with the submission.

Other services the site uses

Your rights
