Furusato's Unlimited Wing Wednesday Challenge

Every Wednesday, Furusato Bar & Grill in Maghull, just north of Liverpool city centre, throws open the kitchen doors for unlimited chicken wings. For £24.95 you get 90 minutes to work through as many rounds as you can handle, mixing and matching the house sauces as you go. Most people come for the feast, but the real prize is the leaderboard: eat more wings in one sitting than anyone before you and you'll take top spot and a free T-shirt. The record has bounced between UFC fighter Paddy Pimblett and YouTube eater BeardMeatsFood, so you'll need a serious appetite to get your name up there.

What you'll be eating

Unlimited chicken wings, brought out ten at a time. You can switch sauces between rounds: Furusato's signature gochujang and sriracha mayo, salt and pepper, honey sriracha, hoisin, sweet and sour, and katsu.

What you win

Set a new house record for the most wings in one sitting and you'll get a Furusato T-shirt and the top spot on the leaderboard.

Strategy tips

Wednesdays only. You sign a waiver before you start, and staff tally your wings on a score sheet that the manager signs off. Wing night gets fully booked, so reserve a table in advance.
