1950's American Diner's Double Dogged Challenge

The 1950's American Diner in Church Gresley, near Swadlincote, is housed in a genuine 1950 American dining car, and new owners brought it back to life in 2023. Its Double Dogged challenge is two footlong hot dogs, one loaded with pulled pork and BBQ sauce and the other with chilli beef and nacho cheese, plus three sides of your choice. That's around 6lb of food, and you've got 30 minutes.

What you'll be eating

Two 12 inch hot dogs, one topped with pulled pork and BBQ sauce and one with chilli beef and nacho cheese sauce, plus three sides from fries, onion rings, coleslaw, mac and cheese and Boston beans.

What you win

Finish within 30 minutes and the £40 meal is free, plus a winner's T-shirt and a photo on the wall of fame.

Strategy tips

You pick the three sides, so go for the lightest ones. Fries and onion rings fill you up fast, while coleslaw at least goes down easily.
